SIP Proxy Migration
Proxy EICO.THINKTEL.CA is scheduled for decommissioning by the end of 2014. No modifications will be performed on this Proxy as any changes made can potentially impact service to other clients using this Proxy.
ThinkTel Support will be gradually contacting customers to supply the necessary information to perform the migration and provide assistance as require. Customers are encouraged to make the change at their convenience prior to being contacted as this will allow them to take advantage sooner of the features of our newer Proxies.
There are several advantages to migrating to our newer Proxies including newer software and hardware, multi-homed IP structure, the ability to transparently handle NAT connections. They also proxy audio along with signalling which allows us to capture full network audio and signalling in our call traces for troubleshooting purposes and are also geographically distributed to reduce latency to the customer.
Since EICO specifically operates in a direct media configuration, audio capturing is extremely difficult to perform if not impossible. Given the nature of the direct media of EICO, simply moving to a proxy that handles both signalling and audio solves the majority of one way audio problems that some customers have experienced.
While we understand that it may be time consuming and potentially cause short outages for customers while changing the Proxy, the benefits of redundancy and a higher level of service far outweighs the inconvenience.

Our Support Department will be happy to assist you with the migration between 08:00 and 19:30 EST from Tuesday to Thursday.
